How deep the Father's love for us:
"God, who is the infinite glorious first-being, embraces them with an entire fatherly love. All the love that ever was in any parents towards children, is but as one drop of the infinite ocean of fatherly love that there is in God unto his people."
-Jeremiah Burroughs, The Saints' Happiness
Having children of my own makes this statement so much weightier. I cannot imagine loving anyone more than I love my own children. However, it all makes sense when I consider that His love for me is not due to my own loveliness, but the loveliness of Christ in me. Thank you Jesus.
"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Cor. 5:21)

Another viewpoint of that depth of love was brought to me as I was on a recent cruise... "The ocean of God's love"... When I was completely surrounded by the ocean, that phrase forever changed. I've never known such depth of love and couldn't possibly fathom it. It's SO great.
Lord I pray that we "may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that we may be filled with all the fullness of God." Eph. 3:18-19
Wonderful verse. Thanks for the comment.
